Feedback from individuals and businesses we have worked with
Tan Wei Loong
Director, trading company, Petaling Jaya
We had a contractual dispute with a supplier that had dragged on for almost a year without resolution. The litigation team at Quorum Stead took over, gave us a clear assessment of our position within the first week, and the matter was settled without going to a full hearing. They were straight with us about what was realistic.

As a company that collects user data, I knew we needed to be PDPA-compliant but had no idea where to start. Quorum Stead ran through our entire data flow, found several gaps we had not noticed, and gave us a set of ready-to-use documents to address them. Not a dense legal report — actual usable materials. Very worth it.

Managing director, logistics firm, Shah Alam
The annual retainer for company secretarial work has made a real difference for us. We used to scramble every year trying to prepare for SSM. Now everything is managed for us, we receive reminders ahead of each deadline, and I have not had to think about it in two years. Good value for what it removes from our plate.

Lim Hui Shan
Operations manager, retail chain, Kuala Lumpur
We had a shareholder dispute that had become quite uncomfortable. The team handled it with a level of discretion I really appreciated. They did not push for an aggressive approach — they helped us understand all the options and we reached a resolution that the parties could live with. I would use them again without hesitation.

Director, property consultancy, KLCC
What I liked most was that Nadia took time to actually understand how our business collects and uses data before giving any advice. The privacy notice and consent framework she produced fit our actual operations, not just a generic template. The turnaround was also faster than I expected — about four weeks.

We engaged Quorum Stead for company secretarial support when our previous provider became unresponsive. The transfer of records was handled efficiently and we have had no compliance issues since. The reminders before each deadline are a small thing, but they are exactly what a busy director needs.

Case Studies
Three representative engagements in detail
Commercial Litigation
Breach of contract — supply agreement dispute
Challenge
A distributor in Shah Alam had not received goods paid for under a three-year supply agreement. The counterparty was unresponsive, and the outstanding sum exceeded MYR 80,000. The client had attempted informal resolution without progress.
Approach
Following a review of the contract and correspondence, a formal demand was issued. When the counterparty responded, structured settlement negotiations were conducted. The matter did not proceed to a contested hearing.
Outcome
Settlement was reached within eleven weeks of initial instruction. The client recovered the outstanding amount under an agreed payment schedule. Total legal costs remained below initial court filing estimates.
Data Protection Advisory
PDPA compliance — e-commerce platform
Challenge
An online retail platform had grown quickly and was processing personal data from thousands of customers without a structured privacy framework. The founding team was aware of the PDPA 2010 but had not formally addressed their obligations.
Approach
A gap analysis was conducted across the platform's data collection points, storage practices, and third-party integrations. Recommendations were prioritised by exposure level, and a set of notices and internal policies were prepared.
Outcome
The engagement was completed in five weeks. The client implemented a privacy notice, consent mechanism, and internal data handling policy. A follow-up review six months later found all recommended measures in place.
Company Secretarial
Compliance rescue — lapsed SSM filings
Challenge
A small professional services firm had not filed annual returns for two consecutive years following the departure of their in-house administrator. The directors were concerned about penalty exposure and the accuracy of their statutory registers.
Approach
The outstanding filings were prepared and submitted, with supporting documentation to address the gap in filings. The statutory registers were reviewed and brought up to date. The firm was then enrolled on the annual retainer service.
Outcome
Both lapsed filings were accepted by SSM. The company's compliance record was restored and all subsequent deadlines have been managed on the retainer. The directors have not needed to handle any SSM submissions themselves since.
